That's your lot for today, folks. Another strong India performance sees them take a 1-0 lead in this three-match ODI series.

It's must-win for England in the next two then after a very mixed showing. They'll want to show what they've got in this format ahead of this autumn's World Cup.

You can read all about India's Deepti Sharma-inspired win at the Ageas Bowl in Ffion Wynne's report here.

We'll be back for the second ODI at Lord's - Deepti has a bit of history there, too - on Saturday. It should be a good one so make sure you join us for that!

I think India look a very strong side.

Performance like this gives a lot of confidence going into any tournament.

If I'm Charlotte Edwards I would be grading different parts of the game.

Ground fielding needs some serious work. I would be saying, 'we have seen England collapse a lot to spin'.

Then there was a strong partnership with Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards.

They will be saying there was good signs of players working against the spin. That was a positive.

It's not all doom and gloom.

  4. 'A great feeling the way we played'published at 20:34 British Summer Time 16 July

India's captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "Obviously, it was a great feeling the way we played today.

"In the end, the way the team played, it was a very crucial innings and very happy we all performed today.

"We knew when we were bowling, if we stayed there we could easily chase this total.

"We missed a few chances, but in the next game we will try to put our best on the field."

On Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues' batting partnership: "It was very important Deepti's [Sharma] calmness on the field and the way they rotated the strike was very important."

  5. '280 would have been a good score'published at 20:32 British Summer Time 16 July

'What a grab!' Rodrigues removes Sciver-Brunt with diving catch

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt: "Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards played really, really well. To get to that total from 90-4 was brilliant, but ultimately we didn't have enough runs.

"The outfield really dried out through our innings and the second innings, with it being a big field we knew we'd be running quite a lot. 280 would have been a good score.

"I think the way we stayed in the game for as long as we did was brilliant. Deepti played really well, that partnership with her and Jemi [Rodrigues] did the damage.

"We can be more disciplined, that's the battle between the two sides, who can last longer."

Player of the match, India all-rounder Deepti Sharma: "I think I was waiting for this opportunity.

"We had a conversation that we had to build a partnership. We had to take five-to-six runs per over."

On her sweep shot: "I was working on it and that helps me a lot. If I play, I play those kind of shots."

On her six: "I played it in the practice and I am used to those shots. I like that shot."

On playing in England: "I think I played last time we play lot of series in England. We are used to these conditions. We enjoy each and every game."

This was certainly a big moment in the match.

Even Lauren Bell's initial appeal wasn't that convincing, there was no real thought of a review and Deepti Sharma survived before getting India over the line...

If England had gone up for the review against Deepti Sharma this might have been a slightly different game.

India's ground fielding was certainly far superior to England's today but they did drop a few catches.

Neither Alice Davidson-Richards or Kranti Goud will want to spend too long thinking about this one...

  12. 'India seem to outperform England'published at 20:18 British Summer Time 16 July

Firstly, Amanjot Kaur for me is showing how India are evolving.

She comes in calm under pressure, and Deepti Sharma handling pressure and taking the game deep.

England were in it at times and then gave it away at times.

Out of the three areas, India seem to outperform England.

Amanjot Kaur crashes the ball away past backward point to win it for India.

They take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The tourists chase down England's 258-6 with relative ease. Deepti Sharma finishes unbeaten on 62 from 64 balls and her 90-run stand with Jemimah Rodrigues was the telling one in the end.

I think we can safely say, barring something spectacular, India are going to win this.

  16. Ind 254-6published at 48 overs

    Need 5 from 12 balls

Lauren Filer gets away with a bouncer that looked a little on the high side, much to Amanjot Kaur's displeasure.

But it's not going to make any difference. India need only five more from the last two overs.

  17. Ind 253-6published at 47.3 overs

India are just one hit away.

Just eased back down the ground by Amanjot Kaur.

Nicely timed but surely it should have been cut off by one of the mid-on and mid-off fielders?

Two from the last ball take it down to single figures required for India.
